The skinny girls in the New Hanes commercials: hot, thin, and healthy
The contestants in Miss Universe: sickly skinny.
I don't think I had ever seen the Miss Universes look so sick. Pretty faces and disgustingly thin. ANd there have always bene contestants from hungry countries, and in fact it was the hearty countries (the latins, Us, puerto rico, and europe) that looked like they'd been deprived of plaitains rice and any food in general.
I was in a pageant once: Miss Teen Bellaire in Miss Teenage Texas...I know how cut throat it is...and mine was just a little pageant, definitely not miss universe, but still....eat a sandwich. Make it a veggie on whole grain if you must, but please eat it miss universe, don't shove it under the rug like a kid eating vegetables.

Honey - welcome to La La land - the home of painfully thin girls with distorted collagened lips - wait to you try to get an agent! My friend - Chole Sevingy - was told she wasn't getting parts because she was up 5 pounds!! Crazy. Try hanging out in Silver Lake - lots of earthy fun people - but never forget that LA is a town built on the movie biz - not much diversity.
Why is it that we can criticize and tease skinny girls for their appearance (sometimes right to their faces) but it's considered a taboo to do the same to overweight gals? Maybe it's because there are so many overweight individuals in this country that it's odd when we see a woman who's actually underweight.
It is not odd to see underweight girls. There are lots of girls with issues and eating disorders, perhaps it is our own individual perception that chooses what we see and don't. And anorexic sized girls (among girls at least) are treated pretty similarly to the bigger girls. Both are in risk f health problems. You know I am the first woman to appreciate a beautiful healthy body when i see one...man or woman ;-) Not only that but big girls aren't being put on television and celebrated as ideals in the eyes of young hopeful little girls like miss universe. I look forward to the day we celebrate health.
shit, I'll make it a veggie on whole grain WITH GALLONS OF MAYO. That's what I'm talkin' about.
